On June 26 Metacomet was granted Conservation Restrictions on three parcels owned by the Town of Mendon, totaling 147 acres.
The Meadow Brook Uplands:
This 97 acre parcel was purchased by the town using Massachusetts LAND grant funds, Massachusetts Community Preservation Act funds, and private donations. The property is mostly forested with oak and white pine, with stands of beech and hemlock. Numerous rocky cliffs run through the parcel. It includes a heron rookery and over two miles of maintained cart roads and paths.
Muddy Brook North:
This 26.2 acre mostky wooded parcel includes 2400 ft. of frontage on Muddy Brook. It was purchased by the town using Community Preservation Act funds. Six acres are reserved for agriculture.
Muddy Brook South:
This 24.2 acre wooded parcel includes 900 ft. of frontage on Muddy Brook. It was purchased by the town using Community Preservation Act funds and a private donation (bargain sale).
All three projects were managed by the Mendon Land Use Committee.
