Wild Edible Plants Foraging Walk in Mendon
October 2, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
From time to time we let our members know about interesting events sponsored by others. Here is one such for everyone interested in foraging for wild edibles!
Our friends in the Mendon Land Use Committee are sponsoring a hike through the Town of Mendon’s open space lands in the Inman Hill Wildlife Conservation Area with Russ Cohen (MA resident and published author of “Wild Plants I have Known …and Eaten”) — Russ is a friend of Metacomet and many other land trusts and has visited the area before with MLT.
This hike is an excellent opportunity to explore this large area of woodland, now part of an 800 acre protected corridor that includes the state’s Wildlife Management Area as well as the Hop Brook lands of Metacomet, the Daniels Farmstead, and municipal open space in Blackstone. Mendon’s Land Use Committee has been an active partner with Metacomet in protecting the Inman Hill area over the past 15 years and we applaud their dedication to conservation!
This walk is a 1.5 mile loop. Arrangements can be made for a shorter, partial walk if desired, please note in the comments section if you are interested in this option.
Meeting point will be the top of Inman Hill Rd. (33 Inman Hill Rd) by the metal barns.
