Franklin-Bellingham-Medway Meeting on US Army Corps Charles River Meadowlands

Thanks to all of you who attended our inaugural meeting in January and our second meeting in February. I am pleased to invite you to a third meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, Mar. 29, 2016 from 6:30-9 pm.

We will be discussing progress to date and next steps such as regularly publicity, informative walks, outreach to the town planning community, etc.

At our Feb. meeting, we discussed, in brief, the new EPA storm water requirements for the towns in the regions. This is something that has not yet been well defined and will probably have a minimal impact (the big focus is on impervious surfaces such as parking lots) on the Charles wetlands, but could be a useful talking point relative to investments in projects with a water impact.

We discussed organizing a walk of at least one sector of the USACE lands and/or adjacent town lands, possibly under the auspices of Metacomet Land Trust, on Saturday April 30th in cooperation with the watershed-wide planned cleanup sponsored by the Charles River Watershed Assn. Details of this event will be discussed at the March meeting. Please contact either Alan Earls or Metacomet Land Trust (metacometlandtrust@gmail.com) if you would like to participate but can’t attend our March meeting.

We approved a brief statement to be provided to State Representatives Kuros and Roy for possible insertion in the budget.  Suggestions have been made that we contact other legislators as well.
